After a ten month absence from the ring due to an injured hand 22yr old Kickboxer Chris James returned to the ring in style last weekend. Chris stepped up to a four round professional rules fight in Bournemouth to take on more experienced Eric Laffin of Dorset. James, of Cannington, imposed his strength and superior punching power in the first round with some telling body and head shots with both hands and feet. The second round was a little more even after Chris seemed to pace himself a little more but the third round found him looking to put his opponent away. After taking some heavy shots to the head Laffin was forced to take a standing eight count but before James could finish the bewildered opponent the bell rang. But it only delayed the inevitable for the fourth round was all one way traffic before another standing eight count, then a withdrawal by Laffin's corner, who threw in the towel. Chris James, who trains at the Budo Juku Martial Arts School at The Eastover Youth Centre, All Saints Terrace, is eagerly looking for his next challenge to eventually step up to area domination at middleweight.
