NEW SOUTHERN AREA CHAMPION
We
now have a new Southern Area Light Heavyweight Kickboxing Champion.
In the IKF amateur rankings Audrius Budrys continues his unbeaten
record with a five round points decision over Salisbury's Ben Grant.
Grant's height and slight reach advantage gave Audrius a few problems
and Audrius would probably admit it wasn't his best performance but
he stepped up the pressure in the final round to nick a majority
decision over the home fighter. There is speculation over a re-match
at our home show in November.
Chris
James travelled to Dartford for a six rounder against local fighter
Reece Rowley. Although Rowley won the first couple of rounds due to
Chris' lacklustre start it was obvious that the fight swung in Chris
James' favour. Rowley was tiring in the latter stages of the fight
that saw Chris James marching forward picking his opponent off at
will. However, to club coach Arthur Meek's dismay the judges awarded
the fight to Rowley due to the brighter start and a drawn round in
the fourth. However this was a good warm up fight for Chris James to
defend his area title on the Bridgwater show against Storm Gym's
Nigel Thomas and no doubt another valuable experience for our up and
coming fighter.
